Just a quick note to thank all of you for the continued patience and support as we work away behind the scenes. Things are moving ahead and we do appreciate all the feedback. 🙂

SSI was also responsible for some terrific sci-fi games including: Buck Rogers, Galactic Adventures, Star Command, and The Warp Factor.
We wanted to focus on Seven Dragon Saga and a fantasy setting initially. However, the idea of a futuristic or sci-fi is something we’d certainly like to explore at a later date.
Phantasie 1-3 were released by SSI. A Phantasie 4 was created for Japan for MSX, NEC and Sharp computers.
Paul Murray, the creator of Wizard’s Crown and Eternal Dagger is with us at TSI. So you can count on his style and expertise in our games. We are undecided if, in the future, we will make an actual sequel.

What a great question.
SSI was responsible for several classics including the Phantasie series. As it happens, we’ve been in touch with the creator of Phantasie and a few ideas have been tossed around for a potential continuation of the series. Although, that’s being weighed along with several other projects we’d like to do down the road. 🙂
We’re definitely compiling a lot of notes about what people liked best about the old games. Obviously, some of the key elements about tactical, turn based combat are very clear. Other aspects such as the non-combat opportunities are indeed areas we’re looking at very closely.
We definitely want to respond as best we can. Part of generating awareness is giving information to the media and then disseminating information overall. We are tremendously grateful to the community and look forward to demonstrating that commitment going forward.
We’ve just been doing some interviews asking exactly those sort of questions. So expect to see more information coming in the days ahead.
As far as crowdfunding goes, that’s certainly something that’s been successful for other titles. So, we’re evaluating those types of options: publishers vs. investors vs. crowdfunding as we look at our product road map.
Nice to see someone with detailed memories of some of SSI’s classic gold box games. The questions you ask deal with issues where SSI is using TSR’s properties. Both Manshoon and Lolth were tightly controlled by TSR, and they did not want anything done to them in Pools of Darkness. Same with any named TSR character. Without doing an original IP, you do what the owner’s say.
Dave’s Challenge was an idea from my then boss, Victor, to have a difficult mission, after players commented on the difficulty of some of my missions, like Pool of Radiance’s Kobold Caves. Since it was just an off-the-cuff idea, and I was already splitting time between Pools and Dark Sun, it never really got the polish it deserved.

Our understanding is that SSI became part of Ubisoft in 2001. Regarding the specifics of the D&D license, that does require WotC/Hasbro’s approval.
We, along with all of the fans, would love to see the Gold Box games be made available on GOG.com or some other outlet(s).
