We love so many of the SSI classics- not just Gold Box. Right now, we’re focused on party based combat rather than a single player adventure like Questron. Although, we’re keen to get feedback from the community and go from there. 🙂
This is terrific feedback. We’re very much looking forward to compiling a list of key questions that we can address as Updates during the campaign. Understanding the XP system is a great example.
Firstly, thank you for sharing your questions any comments with us.
We’re working on a FAQ to address common questions like DRM free (yes). For Physical backers we obviously don’t want them to feel punished and face a significant delay in getting the game.
We have not made immediate plans to order more than 1 copy of the game. Although, this is very good feedback and the type of thing we’re likely to incorporate as an option at a later date. 🙂
It definitely is a shame that there isn’t an easier to way to play the Gold Box classics on computers today.
We appreciate your patience and have big announcements coming in March. 😀
Creating atmosphere in addition to solid game play mechanics is very important. Many games today take advantage of multiplayer but we’re looking forward to crafting a strong single player experience that rekindles those fond memories of old.
We’re big fans of the Bard’s Tale games as well! Although they were quite different. So, it is very encouraging to see quality, party based RPG’s coming back into vogue. Expect to hear more concrete details about Seven Dragon Saga before Bard’s Tale…
Absolutely. The key is balancing rewards for accomplishments and avoid any feel of grinding.
We’re currently reviewing different ways for the player to accrue EXP without relying strictly on that type of formula. So this is definitely interesting feedback that you like the way it is handled in Dead State!
Outspark and Gamigo did have a browser based game called 7 Dragons which was a MMORTS of some sort. However, TSI is creating a completely original single player RPG with no connection to that game.
Quick update on this. There’s been some exciting new developments for Seven Dragon Saga. The planned Kickstarter is being moved until next year as a result. All positive stuff!
Phantasie 4 was made specifically for a publisher in Japan licensed through SSI with Doug Wood’s design. Definitely not a clone: http://www.rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=8786.
We greatly appreciate the encouragement and your feedback.
Part of why you HAVEN’T seen TSI pushing for more awareness is that we’re going into the holiday season which is the busiest time of year for games and we wanted to let Wasteland 2 have it’s time to shine. Having a game with turn based combat get positive reviews and mainstream press hopefully bodes very well for our plans to create a compelling experience with Seven Dragon Saga.
The team has been completely head’s down working away so that we’d have concrete details to share in the near future. Although, we just did a set of interview questions with the guys at RPGCodex so expect that to go live soon. Before long, we will be trying to get the word out there and are counting on all of you- even if you can’t make a pledge, to do your best to help raise awareness and get people excited.
The TSI Team
