Just a quick note on pricing: a $15 price point is for a much shorter campaign than a $25+ price. So, we’ve planned on delivering a larger scope than you get with a smaller game.
March 16, 2015 at 4:55 pm #766The problem by asking a price of 15$ for obtaining a game key, it’s that there’s absolutely no insurance that it will raise the number of pledgers in order to equal, nor to say bypass, the amount of money obtained thanks to a price of 25$ for fewer backers.
The creators of this game are known only by old players who played games no less than 25 years ago, meaning an eternity in video games, and thus lack an actual great name in the industry to hook the mass of “new” players who don’t know them.
Lowering the price is a bet, but I will not criticize people who don’t dare to take it considering the issues.Nevertheless, I still come with my idea of adding a multi-copy pledge, like “add 18$ for any additional digital game-key wanted beyond the pledge level” (same with 50$ for the physical box) would be beneficial to this KS campaign. Of course, 18 and 50$ are only example, it could also be 20 or 55$; it would be up to you to decide, you’ll just have to take care of making it incitative enough.
For the remaining things, will it be possible to get an alpha-screenshot or even only artwork of a non-combat scene to show people another side of the game ?
Whatever, I’m still happy to have pledged for this game and really hope it will succeed in order to allow you to make a great game and, who knows, maybe some revival of others SSI’s RPGs. 🙂

No worries altho the comparisons I was using were not what I would call smaller games.
I’ll stop now you guys clearly thought about it before making the decision. As I said I hope you succeed, so was just concerned that you might not be getting the best bang for buck out of KS.
March 21, 2015 at 1:39 am #788I guess i fall on the other side of the argument here. I open my wallet wide when there is an in game advantage. I certainly want the sword for my SOTA account but i did not stop at the Emperor’s Own pledge level, I’ve gone up to Mastermind because i want to support this game, although i would prefer high pledge levels with more digital goodies. Will there be greater cooperation between some of the game companies? For example, could artwork from a custom avatar in SOTA be used in your game or at least help so you are not starting from scratch? Also, Star Citizen was able to offer some cheaper game packages after they sold a certain number of high cost ships. Would you consider tier pledges that we expensive but opened up a certain level of cheaper $15 game slots ? I think the more people we have playing the better and i don’t mind subsidizing a few players that are not financially able to contribute as much as i currently can. I was a poor student once and might live to be a poor retired gamer someday.
